Panettone French Toast

  • 1 loaf Panettone, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (or 1 1/2 sticks)
  • 2 tbsp corn syrup
  • 2 pears, thinly sliced
  • 10 eggs
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp Peach Schnapps (optional)


Combine the butter, brown sugar and corn syrup in a glass bowl. Microwave until the butter is melted, stirring every 30 seconds. Pour the butter mixture into a greased 9"x13" baking dish. Arrange the pear slices over the butter mixture. Place the bread slices over the pear layer. Combine the eggs, milk and cream in a mixing bowl and beat until blended. Pour in the peach schnapps. Pour over the bread layer. Chill, covered with plastic wrap, for four hours up to overnight. Bake at 350 degrees for 55 minutes or until the bread is puffed and golden. The bread will deflate a bit when removed from the oven. Serve immediately.

Additional Tips

Serve it with fruit coulis.
