  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 8 thick slices stale bread
  • Butter
  • Confectioner's sugar


In a large bowl, beat eggs well. Dissolve sugar in the warm milk, add the eggs, and continue to beat. Add vanilla, cinnamon, and rum. Mix well. Soak bread slices in mixture, coating each side thoroughly. Melt a little butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Carefully remove bread slices from bowl and place on skillet. Cook on each side until golden brown. Place on platter and dust with confectioners’ sugar.
