Everybunny Loves a Baked Treat

Colomba di Pasqua translates to “Dove of Peace”. Bakers actually shape the loaf into a dove. In bakeries across Italy, especially Milan, where the dove is also viewed as a symbol of freedom, windows are filled with the aromatic loaves. For the Italians, it is to Easter what panettone is to Christmas. Serve it alongside coffee cakes and muffins with fresh juice and coffee.

Iced eggs and chicks! Central Market butter cookies are made fresh daily. Some are hand-dusted with crystallized sugar in pastel colors; others are cut into festive shapes and glazed with colorful royal icing to make perfect basket-stuffers.

Easter Nest Cakes, in vanilla or chocolate, are layered and frosted with dreamy buttercream frosting. Pastry bags are zigged across the top with a quick hand, creating nests made from icing into which mini chocolate eggs are placed. It’s an Easter basket you and your family can slice and eat.

Our signature Easter Bread of the Alps is a fluffy round with a hint of citrus and baked with unbleached, unprocessed flour.

Fresh cinnamon and plump raisins go into each Hot Cross Bun made in the Central Market bakery.  Real butter and cream are the base for hand-crafted Central Market scones: flavors include: apple cinnamon, cranberry orange, bacon cheddar and currant. Available in large and mini sizes, serve them up with warmed strawberry compote and traditional spoonfuls of Devonshire cream.

Carrot orange muffins – what better way to wake up the troops?
