We're Having a Party and You Are Invited!

And not just any party, we are talking about the biggest, coolest foodie event we have ever thrown. In celebration of our 20th Anniversary, we are going back to where it all started, our Austin North Lamar store on September 25th, for an evening of fire and stars.

Kicking off the evening will be appetizers from local Austin chefs Daniel Olivella of Barlata and Iiana De la Vega of El Naranjo. Then from Argentina, innovative chef and successful restaurateur Francis Mallmann will take the reins of three open fire pits. Francis is a long-time friend of Central Market and often called the “gaucho of the grill” by Food and Wine magazine, because of his return to his roots and exploration in open fire cooking after years cooking in classic French kitchens. He will be grilling whole chickens, salmon and pork over the fire pits in ways never before.

As the food begins to wind down,we'll raise our glasses for a champagne toast to celebrate the past 20 years and in anticipation of 20 more, and then party will really get started with a local Austin stars, Asleep at the Wheel. Over their 40 year history, Asleep at the Wheel has garnered nine Grammy Awards and released more than 25 studio and live albums with no sign of slowing down anytime soon.  Having helped us celebrate our first 10 years in Austin in 2004, we thought it would be fun to have them back for our 20th.

Tickets to the 20th Anniversary party are now sold out, and can't wait to see everyone on the 25th. Thank you also for your support of Austin’s Sustainable Food Center, a nonprofit organization that cultivates a healthy community by strengthening the local food system and improving access to nutritious, affordable food.

Tonight was the 20th year celebration of Central Market. I was here the day they opened. Much to my surprise we went to the celebration tonight and had the best time. The food was out of this world and no limit to beer and wine....and we had two hours of Asleep at the Wheel....I just want to thank CM for such a great adventure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As someone who, with her husband, has eaten and enjoyed music (to say nothing about shopping in the store) at the N Lamar location 2-4 times a week for 6 years, I am unhappy to find out from a stranger that the Asleep at the Wheel event requires registration. We have never experienced a music evening that was not open to everyone.!! We walk to your location. We live that close. Please respond. Unhappy, Patricia
