Confection Affection

Dragees and poppers and cubes, oh my! Not to mention bars and pretzels and animal cookies. All this chocolate-covered goodness is an October Foodie Find from Tumbador Chocolate, a small, artisan chocolate shop in Brooklyn.

Jean-François Bonnet, an Executive Pastry Chef in France, and his business partner, Michael Altman, named their company after the Spanish word “tumbar,” to cut down. On Spanish cocao plantations, “tumbadors” are pickers, who begin the confection-making process by picking the highest quality pods. The pods become the excellent chocolate that becomes Tumbador specialties.

Tumbador specialties are all handmade with fresh ingredients for unique flavors.

Here’s a sample of our selection:
  • Chocolate Pretzel Poppers – pretzel nuggets covered in creamy milk chocolate and lightly dusted with confectioner's sugar
  • Cranberry Almond Rocher – clusters of roasted almonds and cranberries coated in dark chocolate
  • Crazy Little Animals in Milk Chocolate – that's really what they're called, and it's exactly what they are: animal crackers covered in milk chocolate
  • Hazelnut Dragee – Roasted hazelnuts with a hint of salt coated in dark chocolate
  • PB&J Bar – crispy praline and raspberry patè de fruit in dark chocolate
Tumbador Chocolate has treats for the health-conscious, too! Four selections of fruit-and-nut bars – one each for Vitality, Health, Energy, and Endurance – will be the new great-tasting addition to your healthy diet!
