Wine With a Pedigree

Winemaker Jonathan Maltus, who owns Chateau Teyssier in St Emilion, Bordeaux, made his way across the pond in 2008 to create one of the most premium vineyards of Napa. Now, Maltus has created Lucian, a line exclusively for Central Market, utilizing same juice put in his California World’s End Reserve wines.

Because of our head wine buyer, we have a long history with Jonathan Maltus. The relationship goes back over 10 years, when at the time Maltus also owned an Australian property and our buyer was importing his wines then from Australia and France. With such a great working relationship the World's End line of wines was originally planned to be a Central Market exclusive, but the project became bigger and more expansive as plans came to fruition. So here we are, ready to partner again, and introduce you to the Lucian wines.

Lucian features three amazing red wines, that reflects Maltus' styling, with the help of winemaking expert Gilles Paquet from one of the most famous wineries in the world, Cheval Blanc.
  • Lucian, Primus I, Cabernet Sauvignon - the Cabernet Sauvignon that makes up this wine comes from vineyards that provide the basis for many a cult wine. The French inspired fermentation makes this wine a California wine, with a twist. Beautiful black fruit such as, currants, black cherries, exotic spices and vanilla. This wine is well structured with a long finish.
  • Lucian, Secundus II, Merlot - with 100 acres of Merlot in Saint Emilion, this is a grape Maltus is clearly comfortable with. This American variety produces lush, velvety wine with a hint of Old World. Tasting of ripe plums, cherries, vanilla, and a touch of spice, this is rich and full bodies with soft, rounded tannins.
  • Lucian, Tertius III, Cabernet Franc - This deeply colored Cab Franc is a sight to behold and is an expression of their near perfect Bordeaux wine, Le Dome, which just received 100 points from Robert Parker. This wine features red currants, bramble berries, and a hint a pepper, with a smooth fruity tannins and a long finish.
