Dude, Check This Out

Dude, Sweet Chocolate is Dallas’ favorite funky artisan chocolatier, based right out of Oak Cliff and hand-crafted by local chef Katherine Clapner. Which is why we are thrilled to announce the arrival of some of their most enticing creations: Albatross Fudge, Chocolate Salami, Chubby Nuts, Crack in a Box, and Love Potion No. 5 to name a few.

"Albatross!... What flavor is it?" this fudge is aptly named for a Monty Python skit, and is a unique blend of sweetened condensed milk, Valrohna African Abinaio 85% dark chocolate, with dehydrated blue cheese from Rogue Creamery for the added salt and acid. It’s the perfect blend of sweet, salty and melt-in-your mouth ethereal delight. It costs a wee bit more than ninepence, but we think you'll impressed.

Chocolate Almond "Salami" does not really contain any salami, but it does have a wonderfully rich, smooth texture which was a treat that surprised our taste buds. It’s a Medjool date blend with almonds and pistachios and not-too-sweet chocolate that slices up neatly for a sneaky addition to your charcuterie platter.

Crack In A Box is exactly what it purports to be. We’re a little scared of it, actually. After the initial tasting, we hid the packages safely away for the day, only to find the Crack Box missing from the stash the next morning. It’s so sinfully tempting with its crunchy, nutty, salty-sweetness, it must have the power to turn people to a "life of crime." We hope they get the help they need soon. Luckily we have plenty on the shelf.

There is a super-sweet rack full of Chef Katherine’s chocolates right in the middle of our Dallas Lovers Lane store and we couldn’t be happier, it is also conveniently located around the corner from Beer & Wine. For a chocolate pairing may we suggest a bottle of Novey 2010 Red Zin.

You can also find a mix of Dude, Sweet Chocolate products in Austin, Fort Worth, Plano, and Southlake. Stop in and browse the selection before it flies away.
