Dash Down Greenville Benefits Hungry North Texans

Eight thousand green shirts are expected to Dash Down Greenville as the morning kick off to Dallas' Greenville Avenue St. Patrick’s Day festivities this year.

St. Patrick’s Day is about more than just green beer and shamrocks at Central Market. And, interestingly enough, Dallas’ Dash Down Greenville 5k is about more than just running. In fact, you don’t have to run at all. You can walk, sit, stand, eat, or yes, drink green beer on the sidelines. All of these are important and noble jobs, not for the faint of heart, and many will participate in all of the aforementioned activities, some simultaneously. The day encompasses fun for everyone, with a world-class parade that grows in size every year, live bands, prizes, and plenty of eats, incorporating all of the local businesses and residents of our beloved Greenville Avenue.

Here at the Dallas Lovers Lane, we take our community - and The Dash - very seriously. Herds of Foodies and Central Market Partners sign up every year. Between the runners, walkers, eaters and drinkers we make an impressive showing. Some of us have participated in The Dash every year that our store has been open, all the way back to 1992. We are proud to fly our green colors right on the corner of all the action every year, and this year is no different.

The Dash more than just fun, it is about community involvement and helping people. The race benefits the North Texas Food Bank, which feeds those in need in our community, and we want in on that action as well. Central Market partners with NTX Food Bank whenever and wherever we can, primarily with our involvement in Restaurant Week and the calendars we sell each year. On St. Patrick's Day, we set up shop and sell our burgers right on the corner of Greenville and Lovers Lane for runners, walkers, and green-clad celebrators, with all of the proceeds going to the North Texas Food Bank. This year we will have our famous CM burger with a bag of chips and soft drink for the low, low party price of $5, while supplies last.

Here are the rest of the deets for runners, or those who are just Irish for a day:
  • Sign up for The Dash through runproject.org. Hurry, online registration ends at midnight on March 14th and, unlike the parade, there are no stragglers allowed
  • Please, for your safety, no baby strollers or dogs
  • The race starts at 8:30 am. Get a good night’s sleep.
  • Fuel up at early with breakfast tacos and Coffee Bar creations in store
  • Awards ceremony at 10:00 am, then the parade begins at 11:00 am.
  • Runners and Parade-goers: Sorry, there is no parking here at the store
Also check out St. Patty’s Day specials such as Guinness Glazed Grilled Flank Steak and Whiskey Cheddar Mashed Potatoes in our Chef’s Case here on Lovers Lane. Dash on down, there is much green (and fun) to be had.

What level of difficulty will I have shopping in this store tomorrow, Sat.? Will there be tow trucks in your parking lot again this year towing illegally?
