Rosé is the new Red

This time of year when the thermometer starts to climb towards 100 degrees, I am on the look out for cool and refreshing summer beverages. Just the same as changing out sweaters for sun dresses, this means switching out a beloved red for something a bit lighter, and I have found one Italian and two French rosés that are just the ticket.

Jolie Folle - This July Foodie Find is a crazy-beautiful pale pink rosé from the Cotes de Provence has the taste of summer fruits like strawberries, watermelons, and peaches. Pair this one with summer seafood meals, barbecue, spicy foods, or follow the suggestion from Crazy Beautiful Vineyards, and pair it with “lovers, family, and friends.” And because it is a one liter bottle, there is just that much more to share.

Chateau Paradis - Has been a favorite around Central Market and a favorite of mine, since we introduced the wine during our Passport France festival in 2012. This refreshing rosé is a delicate, crisp wine that’s made for summer. Recognized for the soft pink color, this unusual blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, and Sauvignon Blanc has flavors of red berries and citrus. As a bonus, if you are in the Austin area, winemaker Jean Christophe will be hosting a tasting event at our Westgate store on July 10th and our North Lamar store on July 11th

Bellenda Rosé Brut - If bubbles are your favorite way to brighten an occasion, then pop open a bottle of this Passport Italy fave. Produced amidst the Italian hills of Prosecco, this dry style or Metodo Classico Prosecco is perfect with prosciutto, anchovies, cheeses, or shrimp. Did we mention that the wine received an 88 point review from Wine Enthusiast and a 90 point review from Wine Spectator.
