Gluten Free and Fantastic
There’s No Gluten...and No One Knows. That’s the motto of Local Oven, a 100% gluten-free bakery based in the Dallas area. And I promise that they live up to their motto. For the last year Local Oven, has focused on creating delicious baked goods to help fill the needs of often overlooked basics like breads and buns in a variety of flavors.
Local Oven owner, Linda Fitzerman, was diagnosed with gluten intolerance three and a half years ago, which meant no more wheat, barley or rye. The ingredients found in nearly everything, especially breads. She recounts her first visit to the grocery after her diagnosis “I went to the grocery store and loaded up my cart with everything I could eat. It was disappointing.” With that in mind Linda set out to create products that were superior in texture and taste to every other gluten-free product on the market, and her customers sing her praises loud and clear. On their website there are plenty of testimonials, but one from Jeanette might sum it up best “My definition of awesome, delicious, scrumptious buns, rolls, and pita bread is found at Local Oven. I am telling everyone that I know.”
The best part for any person now regulated to a gluten-free diet is that you will relish each bite of a hamburger or hotdog as you remember, with buns just how they should be, light, airy, springy and doesn’t fall apart. And gluten eaters, don’t let the words gluten free deter you, the products are great. So much so, that many in our office quickly said after tasting “Is this really gluten-free?!?”
